Cookie & Tracking-Technologies Policy
Last updated on 3 July 2025
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files (or similar bits of code, like local storage and pixels) that live in your browser when you visit a website. They remember things, keep the site secure, and help us understand how people use our pages so we can make them better.
2. The four types of cookies we use
Necessary — These run the core plumbing of the site: loading pages, keeping you logged in, preventing spam and hacks. Without them the site simply won’t work, so they’re always on.
Preferences — These remember choices you make, such as language, dark-mode, or filters. They make the site look and feel the same each time you come back. If you turn them off, the site still works but forgets your settings.
Analytics — These tell us how many visitors we get, which pages are popular, and where things break. We use this information to fix bugs and improve content. If you turn them off, we’ll only receive anonymous, aggregated numbers.
Marketing — These measure how our ads perform and stop you seeing the same advert over and over. They can also help us show adverts that are more relevant to you. If you turn them off, ads become more generic and less frequent.
Legal note: Wherever privacy laws (like the GDPR, UK-GDPR, or India’s DPDP 2023) require it, Preferences, Analytics, and Marketing cookies only load after you switch them on in the banner.
3. What specific cookies might appear?
Because technology changes, the exact cookie names and lifetimes shift over time. Today, the most common ones you may see are:
Google Analytics cookies (names that start with
_ga
,_gid
, or similar) for site statistics.Google Ads cookies (names that start with
_gcl
or_gads
) for ad measurement. Our own cookies with names like
ui_theme
orsession_id
that remember your settings or keep you logged in.
When we add new tools, we review and update this list before they go live.
4. How you can control cookies
Banner controls – The first time you visit you’ll meet a banner with four switches. Necessary is always on; the other three are your call.
Change your mind anytime – Click “Cookie Settings” in the footer to re-open the banner and adjust your choices.
Browser settings – Most browsers let you delete or block cookies altogether. Just remember that blocking Necessary cookies can break parts of the site.
5. Data transfers outside your country
Some of our partners (for example, Google) store information on servers located in other countries. Where required, we rely on legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or recognised adequacy decisions to protect your data.
6. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies, switch providers, or otherwise change how we use tracking technology, we’ll update this page and bump the “last updated” date. Major changes may also trigger the banner again so you can review your choices.
